Cleanliness 4 Service 4 Food 4 Likelihood 4 1-5 (5 Best!) 4.0 Dinner for 3. I has been years since I stopped in at Tish's. The restrooms were SPOTLESS and smelled fresh and clean. THANK YOU! We were greeted by the hostess promptly as we walked in, nice. The server was experienced and did a great job pacing service and being attentive to our needs. The food was made from scratch (mostly) fresh, and tasty. I LOVE breaded and fried cauliflower WHEN it is served with cheese sauce. It was amazing. GREAT JOB. Good to know that there are hometown "favorites" across the river :)

What a gem of a place for Council Bluffs. This place has it all. Great food! Great prices! And best yet clean and cozy with outstanding service! Steve and his staff offer great service with great prices. I have stopped here regularly over the years and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and tasty. Best thing next to home cooking! Check it out!

Stopped about 8:00 on a Wednesday night. They were in the process of serving a group in the party room. And they are advertising for help. Wasn't too surprising the service was slow. It was surprising a group of four were served before our two even though we ordered first. Nevertheless, the people working were friendly and nice. Husband had the salmon which was cooked to perfection. Our salads were nice, crispy and good. I had chicken fried steak which was great. It was served over mashed potatoes and served hot, as it should be. The house wine was overpriced, but that happens sometimes. It was good wine.

We were greeted at the door by a guy I believe t Bethesda owned. After seating us n a cozy both, he proceeded to inform us they now have two chefs on staff. My expectations were immediatelty elevated. I tried very hard not to let my disappointment show when my meal arrived. It was nothing spies,,something one might grab from the freezer and whip together if in a hurry. Nothing substantial, nor evident that it was prepared or prepped by a chef. Service was good and attentive, but I was expecting way more from this cozy family run place, however, I will return to give something else on the extensive menu a try.

Went here last night for dinner with a friend, and sat on the patio. The patio is very nice, and covered. The menu is general with mostly American food, and their own unique spins on wraps, flat breads etc. I had a wrap with fries, and found it to be average. Tish's is pretty much a diner, that is a little nicer than the average diner. Its a safe bet with decent food, but nothing out of this world.

The food was exceptionally tasty. The three of us shared a patty melt with sweet potato fries, bruschetta flatbread, and spinach dip. We had a couple substitutions and everything was delivered exactly as ordered. "The owners are awesome" according to my sister. Eating at Tish's was a wonderful experience.

Atmosphere: B Food: B- Service: B+ Friendly, attentive service is always a welcome sign. My salad was not good, not even sure what it was supposed to be; however everyone else in my party was pleasantly surprised with their orders--primarily sandwiches and the like. I would return, but probably stay away from anything but the standard fare.

We went there as a family after being given the menu from hotel. Looked good. But we were all disappointed. The food was very weak at best. And expensive. And the atmosphere was nothing to be desired. So if you go-know that it will cost you.

This place is the essence of comfort. I liken it to eating dinner in a really nice living room. The service is always good and the menu satisfies my need for comfort food. You can't go wrong with any of the chicken sandwiches and the chili is a must for any chili lover.

Service could have been more attentive especially because so few people were there. Got our drinks and had to wait a little too long for our server to take our orders. Food was nothing memorable. I had fish 'n chips. Batter was thick and heavy and retained quite a bit of the oil it was fried in. Standard frozen crinkle cut fries lacked any flavor and were undercooked. I would not be surprised AT ALL if the fish was frozen with the batter - both pieces were the exact same shape with no variation in the batter like you'd get from something hand-battered. My wife's chicken sandwich had fresh veggies but I'm 90% certain it was a frozen breaded "chicken breast." As was my Dad-in-law's pork tenderloin. Mom-in-laws steak was cooked adequately but was just "meh." Under-seasoned and not well trimmed. Oh, and the soda is completely flat. No fizz at all. If we had paid full price, this would be a 1-star review. We used a restaurant.com gift cert. If I was Tish's I'd scrap the menu and start over with fresh, made from scratch everything. Reduce the menu significantly and focus on a true signature dish. Hand-breaded pork tenderloin with fresh cut fries. Something! Fresh and flavorful would pack this place...especially if it's a great value. Council Bluffs is dying for a place like that. Preparing frozen foods does not a good restaurant make. I won't be returning.

The Chili Soup is a must have. It is the best in the area. The menu is very diverse, and everything is very good. Clean, quiet, relaxing place to eat and visit. The service is very good. You are greeted and seated immediately. It is the best kept secret in the Omaha Metro Area. Don't forget the dessert. Marie M

Like so many locals, I remember Tish's as an "order at the window" joint. It has since evolved into a sit-down restaurant, and it still offers the same good ol' fare. My last visit there was for dessert with a dear friend. I ordered the Brownie Sundae, as I have been cursed with a sweet tooth. My girl friend went out on a limb and ordered a cherry sundae, a rare departure for her, since she is an Oreo lover. We were both so very satisfied. I was especially satisfied because I wasn't given a heaping plate full of crap brownie and ice cream. Instead, I was served a reasonably sized portion of delicious homemade brownie topped with ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream, and a cherry on top. I will take something that is possible to eat for $4.99 than an impossible, calorie-filled portion. Dinner is just as delicious. A few days prior to that dessert stop we made it to Tish's, after debating where the heck in Council Bluffs to grab a good burger. I ordered the Grilled Cheese sandwich. Texas Toast makes all the difference in this American classic, I promise. Plus, I got my choice of 5 different cheeses. Good deal. For $5.49 I was served a doable portion of fries and delicious sandwich. Rarely do I finish all that's on my plate... This is the type of place that not only is great for an American bite, but is terrific for a cup of coffee and dessert. The booths are big and old-fashioned, not to mention comfortable, and the atmosphere overall is just super cozy. The service on both occasions was friendly and superb. I always try to support local businesses, and rarely am I disappointed.
